Meet Shelly Calhoun, FNP-C

Shelly Calhoun, MSN, FNP-C, PHN, is a certified family nurse practitioner at Peninsula Healthcare Center in Torrance, California. She is dedicated to providing excellent service, consistent and proficient care, and delivering outstanding, cost-effective healthcare. Shelly helps assess, diagnose, plan, and coordinate care for patients and the injured worker population.

Shelly began her nursing education at Excelsior University’s College of Nursing. She then earned a master’s degree to become a family nurse practitioner at the United States University in Chula Vista, California.

Shelly is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Bringing extensive experience to Peninsula Healthcare Center, Shelly has worked in California, holding various healthcare roles, including a med-surgical nurse, urgent care clinical team leader, case manager, and occupational healthcare director. 

Her work experience includes preparing case management reports for insurance companies in the workers’ compensation industry, managing health plans for patients with special needs, and reviewing health facilities to ensure compliance with the Department of Health Services for Managed Medical Services throughout the Los Angeles, California area.

Shelly provides patient-focused care and looks forward to establishing long-term relationships with each patient.
